PD-L1 tests offered at Quest Diagnostics
Programmed death ligand (PD-L1) is also called an Immune check point inhibitor.
It is present in multiple tumor types. PD-L1 is expressed on activated T-cells and binding of PD-1 by its ligand PD-1 inhibits T-cell mediated cytotoxicity. Some cancer cells express PD-L1 on their surface thus suppressing T-cell mediated attack on cancer cells. Immunotherapy employing monoclonal antibodies that block PD-1 or PD-L1 have shown significant antitumor effects in many cancers including non-small cell lung carcinoma.
Tumoral PD-L1 expression is seen in multiple tumor types including NSCLC, Melanoma, Urothelial carcinoma.
